Resident Evil 4: if the remake exists, Shinji Mikami wants the story to be improved

Shinji Mikami is the father of the franchise resident Evilbut he is now far from home Capcom. Founder of Tango Softworkshe is currently an executive producer of Ghostwire: Tokyo, who was treated to a big presentation last night. The opportunity for the Japanese to do some interviews.

But at VG247Shinji Mikami did not only talk about Ghostwire: Tokyo. The journalist asked him for information about the very likely remake of Resident Evil 4, which has been talked about for months. Mikami wouldn’t work on the game, but he would have given his blessing to M-Two to develop it, and he commented this week:

Fans will most likely want it, and so that’s a good thing. It would be great if Capcom could do a great job and improve the story and come up with a good product.

Eh yes, Shinji Mikami isn’t especially proud of Resident Evil 4’s storyline, he admits having written it in just three weeks. Why ? Well, because Capcom only left him three… Suffice to say that there was much better to do with Leon in Europe in search of the daughter of the President of the United States, it remains to be seen whether Capcom will respond to his call at the risk of upsetting the fans, or if he will just improve the technical part. As a reminder, we had the right on GameCube to Resident Evil Rebirth, a remake of the first part, which dared to take a few liberties and new features to better surprise players. Same more recently with Resident Evil 2but without big changes, or with Resident Evil 3but without the same genius this time.

And precisely, a rumor indicates that M-Two would no longer be on the Resident Evil 4 remake project, because developing a game too similar to the original. Capcom Division 1 would now be in charge of the game, which would not see the light of day before 2023. Clearly, the formalization is not for now. You can find Resident Evil 4 on PS4 at €19.99 on Amazon.
