New change on the iPhone side: Apple decides to relax App Store restrictions by (finally) opening the market to retro game emulators.
The entry into force of the Digital Market Acts (DMA) last month was synonymous with numerous changes for Tech players, and particularly for the Apple brand. The one which is rightly renowned for its closed ecosystem has had to review a large number of elements of its policy, in order to comply with the rules imposed by the European Union. In addition to allowing the installation of apps from the Web, and allowing Fortnite to make its big return to the App Store, the firm led by Tim Cook has now confirmed the arrival of video game emulators on its store.

Emulators officially arrive on the App Store
This Friday, Apple quietly updated its App Store regulations, confirming that emulation of retro games will now be a possibility. Important news, not to say historic, since the Cupertino giant had until now always prevented emulators from developing on its platform. Here’s more exactly what Apple explains regarding the new application review guidelines:
“ Apps may offer certain software that is not integrated into the binary, particularly HTML5 mini-apps and mini-games, streaming games, chatbots, and plugins. Additionally, retro game console emulator apps may offer to download games. You are responsible for all software offered in your application, including ensuring that such software complies with these guidelines and all applicable laws. “.
No more workarounds for playing your retro games on iPhone
You will no doubt have noticed that Apple indicates, in article 4.7 of the regulations, that the games in question must comply with “ to these guidelines and to all applicable laws “. So understand that the App Store will not tolerate applications offering pirated titles. An important clarification, which reminds us of the case of Yuzu, the Nintendo Switch emulator which closed its doors last month.
Finally, you will probably have noticed that the emulators present on the App Store will also allow users “ to download games “.

As our colleagues from The Verge, this decision should allow many game emulators available on Android to take their first steps on iOS. Thus, users will no longer have to transgress the rules of the App Store thanks to various circumvention methods (jailbreak, AltStore, etc.) to install emulators on their iPhone.

- A design that gains in elegance
- The disappearing notch
- Ultra bright screen
The iPhone 15 does better than its predecessor, and on every level! Equipped with a superb, very bright screen (but still 60 Hz), finally free of its notch, it is already establishing itself as a wonderful traveling companion for years to come.
More versatile than ever in photography, thanks to its new sensor offering 2x digital zoom which was sorely lacking in previous models, it clearly overshadows the iPhone 15 Pro. However, keep in mind that autonomy is a real stone in the shoe of this model, which makes us prefer the iPhone 15 Plus this year. Despite everything, we appreciate the move to USB-C, even if the USB 2.0 standard is far too dated.
The fact remains that Apple is making all the right choices this year to bring its “standard” range up to speed, where the Pro models tended to take too big a lead in terms of design as well as in terms of performance.
