“At half past nine in the evening we are all already asleep”

Richard Gere lives far away from the public eye. In an interview he revealed why he travels very little now.
Richard Gere (74) apparently lives a quiet life away from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood. The 74-year-old actor revealed to the Spanish edition of “Vanity Fair,” among other things, that he hasn’t seen many new movies since he had his younger children with his wife Alejandra Silva (41).
“The truth is that we don’t go out much. We have three small children. An eleven-year-old, a five-year-old and a four-year-old,” said the 74-year-old, who apparently decided to move from New York to his native Spain with his family this year Wife plans to the magazine. “So at half past nine in the evening we’re all asleep. If we watch something, it’s on the big TV we have at home.”

The Hollywood star added that he doesn’t go to premieres or watch his own films. His wife and his older son Homer (24) also don’t know many of his films. The 24-year-old doesn’t understand that his father is a star, said Gere. “And it is also very difficult for him to see me on screen because even if I play an extreme character, I am still his father and it is difficult for him to get involved in the story.” Gere goes on to say about his eldest: “Coincidentally, he also just started acting. He’s suddenly found interest in it and seems to be enjoying it. He’s been writing and directing little films, so we have this new thing in common.”
Homer comes from Gere’s previous marriage to Carey Lowell (63), which lasted from 2002 to 2013. He was previously married to supermodel Cindy Crawford (58) from 1991 to 1995. Richard Gere married Alejandra Silva in 2018. Their first son together was born in February 2019. A year later, the couple had another son. Silva also brought a child into the marriage: she has a son with her first husband, who was born in 2012. The couple will soon be going to Madrid with their younger children. “She was very generous and gave me six years in my world, so I think it’s only fair that I give her at least another six years in her world,” Gere told Vanity Fair about his wife.
