Nevera: This is the name of a surprisingly emerging storm that sweeps across the Croatian coast with wind peaks of over 200 km / h. Nevera is also the name of the electric super sports car from the Croatian car maker Mate Rimac (34), which is already a sensation as the C-Two study. The Nevera will be produced in Zagreb from autumn and will shake up the super sports car world.
The almost eerie performance data of the C-Two study also apply to the production model Nevera: thanks to four electric motors, the 1408 kW (1912 hp) two-seater sprints from 0 to 100 km in 1.9 seconds, with a speed of up to 412 km / h /H. With the electric sports car developed over the course of four years, Mate Rimac, often referred to recently as the European Elon Musk, makes the established sports car manufacturers Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche and Co. look old.
Sprint on the runway
Blick is now allowed to drive this electric storm exclusively on the runway of Zadar Airport on the Croatian coast for the first time. Tense and slightly nervous, we receive the final instructions from head test driver Miroslav Zrncevic in the astonishingly comfortable driver’s seat: “Simply put your left foot on the brake, apply full throttle, and then release the brake – the Nevera sprints off.” No sooner said than done: I hold down the accelerator pedal, release the brake and – off you go!
Breath away, stomach up
The sprint of the almost 2.2 ton four-wheel drive is breathtaking in the truest sense of the word. The hyper athlete shoots across the runway like the often cited cannonball – it tightens my breath, the contents of the stomach rise threateningly. Just before the 300 km / h limit, the end of the runway comes into view. I fully apply the brakes. From the corner of my eye I can see that the front passenger display shows the recuperation power of emergency braking with almost 300 kilowatts. Wow, that was a ride! I turn around to enjoy the more than 2000 Nm again. Slipping on the rough asphalt? Hardly noticeable.

The prototype of the pre-series is then taken to the country road. There the Nevera behaves like a normal sports car – at least almost. The body is stiffer than that of a Le Mans LMP1 racing car, but the level of comfort is surprisingly high. Every detail was developed and manufactured by Rimac itself: displays, switches, controls, seats, even the cool key. “That was necessary, nobody would have made switches or keys for 150 vehicles,” explains Mate Rimac. And he doesn’t want anything off the shelf for the dream car.
150 pieces are built
Due to the corona, the country roads along the coast are still empty. There is always a small sprint in between. Barren landscapes fly past to the left and right before we “sneak” through many almost deserted villages at a reasonable speed of 50 km. We now know that the Nevera’s acceleration is vehement. Depending on the selected driving program, a mighty wing in the rearview mirror stretches into the Croatian sky, which provides contact pressure when accelerating or assistance when braking.
In addition to the tremendous acceleration and the easy handling, the bitch-free everyday behavior is really surprising. Although the pre-production car reveals the need for fine-tuning in terms of steering feedback, brakes and chassis, what is probably the fastest electric two-seater in the world is already less diva-like than comparable exotic small-series models.
And so Mate Rimac can be absolutely confident that he will actually bring all of the Nevera produced in the next three years at a net unit price of two million euros to women or men in the United Arab Emirates, in the USA and in Europe becomes.
