Riot to pay $ 100 million to former female employees who face gender discrimination

It is common knowledge, the world of video games is not always a sector where life is good at work. In November 2018, two employees of the Riot Games studio (League of Legends), owned by Chinese Tencent, filed a class action lawsuit against their company over allegations of discrimination and sexual harassment. Over three years later, the publisher has finally folded. He agreed to pay no less than $ 100 million to end the trials. $ 80 million will go to the plaintiffs affected by the action, namely all current and former employees who worked for Riot in California between November 2014 and today. The remaining 20 million compensate for the legal fees. The agreement must however be validated by a court, which should be done in the coming months. A great legal victory is therefore looming for the plaintiffs, while Riot had already tried to settle the dispute financially in 2019 for … 10 million dollars.
