During the phone call, pay attention to phrases such as “Your electricity contract is about to expire”. Such a contract never expires and must be actively terminated by consumers.
You can also ask for a written form in which you have to enter the meter reading by hand and send it back. Tip: Your provider has your address and should actually have it. Therefore, do not give out your home address immediately to avoid further spam.
Many of the scammers are particularly savvy when it comes to keeping you on the phone. If you can’t get away, you can safely do without pleasantries and just hang up.
