Riverdale on Netflix, it’s not (really) over! While the Riverdale series ended on August 23 after 7 (long) seasons, Netflix will be offering its own version in a few months. We tell you everything about The Archies!

From Riverdale, a series of comics featuring several characters, the most emblematic of which is Archie. Surrounded by his friends Jughead, Betty and Veronica, the young high school student lives crazy and sometimes supernatural adventures.

Their stories will be adapted several times, in live action but also in an animated version – Archie mysteries and company – in which the heroes are also members of a musical group, The Archies. It is also one of the first fictional groups in the history of music. Between 1968 and 1971, they will release several titles which will become hits for some, like “Sugar Sugar” (with the voice of Ron Dante).

To differentiate itself from Riverdale (a CW production) which has just ended after 7 seasons, Netflix has worked on a totally different version of the comics, entitled The Archies (like the name of the group, you follow?). It is a musical comedy directed by Zoya Akhtar and which takes place in the 60s in India. The film features characters now emblematic of the world of Archie Comics, including our four high school students.

The platform unveiled during its TUDUM event last June a first rock’n’roll and ultra rhythmic trailer (to see in the player above), just after the main actors go on stage to interpret what we imagine to be the main song of the feature film. In these images, we recognize one of the iconic places of the universe, the Pop Tate’s restaurant (and its appetizing milkshakes).

Netflix hasn’t announced the release date for The Archies yet, but Archie, Betty, Veronica and the others should be back on our screens by the end of the year (November?). In other words, we are not done with them.
