The American Rivian is currently making the first deliveries of its electric R1S.

This electric SUV succeeds the R1T, a 100% electric pick-up, too.

Rivian’s R1S SUV in time for the holidays

The first buyers of the Rivian R1S SUV will spend Christmas in good company, as they begin to receive their precious 100% electric vehicle. Note, however, that these can be counted on the fingers of one hand, because only two copies of the Rivian R1S have so far left the production plants.

By way of comparison, the American firm produced a total of 652 copies of its R1T, launched shortly after the summer … for more than 70,000 pre-orders. Suffice to say that buyers will have to be patient. The American firm currently has a production rate of around 10 units (with regard to the R1T) per day.

It is not surprising to learn that all those who have not yet placed an order have no chance of being able to take a seat aboard their Rivian badged electric vehicle before the year 2023. In order to speed up production, Rivian will open new factories in the years to come (notably in Atlanta), to support its only current site, in Illinois.
