Robert Pattinson is currently in front of the camera as "The Batman". On the set, he suffers from the perfectionism of filmmaker Matt Reeves.

Being a superhero requires certain virtues and the frequent use of extraordinary skills. On the set of "The Batman", Robert Pattinson (34, "Twilight – Until (s) dawn") seems to have to use the superpower of patience. The reason: Filmmaker Matt Reeves (54, "Planet of the Apes: Survival") drives him with his perfectionist streak to the edge of madness.

Up to 50 attempts for a scene – in a heavy superhero costume

As the British "The Sun" reports in its "Bizarre" column, a kind of control obligation by the American director leads to Pattinson and the film crew being totally exhausted. "Filming was such a grueling process, especially for Robert," a source told the daily. Pattinson had to shoot scenes in his heavy superhero suit up to 50 times, because Reeves "lost himself in tiny details". "Sometimes it seems like he doesn't know when to stop."

One reason for Reeves' perfectionism could be the caliber of the film, which is slated to hit theaters in spring 2022. "Matt has shot blockbusters before, but that's a different level," the insider continued. The gloomy Batman is "probably the most popular of all superheroes and at the time the film started", the new production is "the Black Knight's first single film in ten years". The film studio Warner Bros. could therefore "not afford" to disappoint the many fans of the character. As a result, director Reeves feels "the pressure to get it right".

Corona pandemic puts pressure on Matt Reeves

The corona pandemic could also have increased the pressure again. Last March, the production had to be put on hold overnight because of her, and in September it was interrupted again because main actor Robert Pattinson was allegedly himself infected with the corona virus. Last month, a member of the stunt team was said to have tested positive, after which the other members were sent to quarantine.

In addition to main actor Pattinson as a hero in bat costume, "The Batman" comes up with numerous other top-class actors. Among them: Zoë Kravitz (32, "Big Little Lies") as Catwoman and Colin Farrell (44, "The Gentlemen") as the penguin. The cinema release is currently set for March 4, 2022 – five months later than originally planned.
