Last March, the platform Roblox (which has no less than 160 million players each month) launched two new tools, namely artificial intelligence. The goal was to assist any gamer in creating code and 3D models by entering only textual queries. Even though Roblox is mainly aimed at young players, the platform thinks today of its many players over 17 years old.
And for good reason ! On Roblox, the fastest growing age group is 17-24 years old. Last year, no less than 38% of daily active users were aged 17 and over. Also, as a natural evolution the game now allows creators to produce content aimed specifically at this audience.
Violence, blood, humor, alcohol…
Indeed, so far, Roblox categorized experiences into various groups, namely: all ages, 9+, and 13+. From now on, it will be necessary to count on an additional section, with content intended for 17 years and over.
According to the game’s official website, “+17” is considered content capable of presenting “ intense violence, realistic gore, moderate crude humor, romantic themes, unplayable game content and/or the presence of alcohol “.
Obviously, experiences aimed at people aged 17 and over will have to check all the safety and civility boxes put in place by Roblox. For this, the platform has introduced some new rules.

First of all, only users over the age of 17 will be able to create “adult” content. To verify the age of each creator, Roblox will require them to take a selfie and provide ID, as can be seen on other web services. In the future, the platform reserves the right to add new age verification methods.
