Rocket League is reintroducing voice chat to the game with the new 2.15 update. The full patch note is available.

Rocket League launched its 2.15 patch on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series this May 9. A light update with only a few improvements, mainly related to voice chat. Removed from Psyonix game for a few months, the function is therefore back.

Activated by default in the games, it will allow you to chat with your teammates directly from the game. group chat and team chat, to differentiate chat between friends and the full party team. Note that the team chat will be cut after the end of the match, while the group chat is active including in the menus.

As in other Epic games, you can switch between push to talk and automatic detection, but also mute a player so as not to hear him in the game. find the patch note 2.15 on this link or just below:

CHANGES AND UPDATES


Voice chat


  • Voice chat is now available for players on all platforms.

    • With the release of v2.15, Voice Chat is enabled by default for all players.
    • Voice Chat is fully cross-platform.

  • Voice Chat options are Party Chat and Team Chat. You cannot speak with opposing teams in Voice Chat.
  • When Voice Chat is enabled, you will see a Voice Channel tab (with a small headset icon) appear in your friends list. You can join, leave, or switch voice channels from this tab.

    • When you join a team in a match, you are placed in a team voice channel.
    • When you join or form a party, you are placed in a party voice channel. This channel displays all of your party members who have voice chat enabled.

  • Voice chat settings can be found by going to Settings -> Chat -> Voice chat settings.

    • Enable Voice Chat: Checked by default; uncheck the box to disable Voice Chat.
    • Voice Chat Input Device [PC uniquement] : Select the microphone or other input device you want to use.
    • Voice chat output device [PC uniquement] : Select the output (speakers, headphones, etc.) you want to use.
    • Push To Talk: Check this box to use an assigned key to activate your input device. You can change your bond under Settings -> Controls -> View/Edit Bonds -> Scroll down to Voice Chat (Push To Talk).
    • Preferred Voice Channel: Choose whether to default to Group Chat or Team Chat when both are available.
    • Main Menu Notifications: Shows the names of players who are talking in the main menu.
    • Match Notifications: Shows the names of players who are speaking during a match.
    • Text Chat Notifications: Displays text chat notifications when players leave or rejoin voice chat.

  • You can adjust the incoming voice chat volume in Settings -> Audio -> Voice Chat.


BUGS FIXES


  • Display of ping to game servers has been fixed.
  • Fixed a visual bug with spectator names in private matches.
  • Fixed the appearance of the scoreboard from the perspective of spectators in private matches.
  • [PC uniquement] Fixed a rare bug that allowed spectators to access certain matches online and place them on the pitch.

    • This issue will be fixed on consoles in our next scheduled update.

  • Fixed a bug preventing the “LTM” badge from appearing on the occasional game list tile.


KNOWN ISSUES



  • Voice chat match notifications overlay quick chat options when enabled.
