/ Culture / TV / Riverdale season 5: roles are up for grabs!

Scheduled for 2021, the Netflix series takes a new turn and it could be that the fates of our favorite characters are turned upside down. Indeed, after an ellipse of at least 5 years, life in Riverdale is likely to experience quite a bit of change. What can we expect?

Even if the situation in the United States is still complicated because of covid-19, filming could start again little by little. This is the case of the series Riverdale which could not end its season 4 and which should return to the set soon in Vancouver, Canada. The last 3 missing episodes will then be at the start of season 5. While a time jump was planned from the start of season 5, it will finally take place after episode 3. And we expect big changes!

Veronica married: the identity of her husband revealed

A few years later, Veronica is married, and no, it's not Archie. Fans who are waiting for a link with the spin-off Katy Keene will be delighted because the character played by Camila Mendes will share her life with the so-called Chad Gekko, already appeared in the series worn by Lucy Hale. Originally awarded to Reid Prebenda, the role is ultimately yet to be landed as the production has decided to replace the actor. The character is described by showrunners as "Veronica's manipulative and neurotic husband who works on Wall Street" and is said to have some connection to the business of Hiram Lodges.

Jughead separated from Betty

With season 4 being interrupted due to the pandemic, production was unable to complete the plot. A focus between the characters is expected, however, after Archie and Betty come together. A new young lady is reportedly coming in after the ellipse and dating Jughead, played by Cole Sprouse. Her name is Jessica and the actress has not been found yet. The novelist's new girlfriend, in her twenties, is described as a "hipster." The production reveals more details about the character: "Jessica does not hide that she is done with their relationship, because she can see that she is not as important to him as the book he is not writing. ". So it could be that Bughead fans still have a chance to see their favorite characters reunited.

What about Archie?

Given his flirtation with Betty in the final season, the character of KJ Apa could officially have a romance with his best friend, played by Lili Reinhart. But nothing is less certain, we will have the answer soon. Even if the showrunners remain very tight-lipped about the young redhead's future, you'd think Archie would find his place in the military. Indeed, another new character joins the cast: Eric Jackson, a veteran who fought alongside the ex-boyfriend of Veronica Lodges and who lost a leg.

Other roles still awaiting actors

The production is also looking for a comedian who can play a 40-year-old bus driver who picks up Archie when he leaves for the military. "He takes his job very seriously but always stops when Archie's friends want to say a final goodbye," the casting announcement said. The other role to land is that of Officer Bradshaw, 30, who "works at the army recruiting table at Riverdale High."

A poster unveiled for season 5

And for the more impatient, the first poster of the 5th season has finally been unveiled. A season that will begin with the senior prom at Riverdale High, as confirmed by showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa by unveiling a photo of the couple formed by Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch) and Toni Topaz (Vanessa Morgan).
