Roselyne Bachelot releases one million euros for Ukrainian and Russian artists


On the decision of Minister Roselyne Bachelot, the Ministry of Culture announced this Saturday, March 12, to release a fund of one million euros, in order to help artists. This envelope will be addressed to any Ukrainian or Russian artist, refugee because of the war in Ukraine.

Eighteen days after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Ministry of Culture has detailed its specific plan for artists affected by the conflict. The amount released will thus allow funding in several parts.

Accommodation residences, for a period of three months, will be specifically assigned to artists. Also, an orientation platform, Russian-speaking and Ukrainian-speaking will be set up in order to better orient these refugees.

The financial aid will also make it possible to achieve medium-term objectives with them, such as the announced coverage of research grants relating to artistic creation.

The funds will also be used to disseminate the artistic productions of the artists concerned more widely.

Finally, an additional aid of 300,000 euros has been planned for the reception of students in art schools.

Aid for Russian dissent

Russian artists, forced into political exile by their disagreement with Vladimir Putin’s regime, will also be supported by this fund. Earlier in the week, Minister Roselyne Bachelot had publicly communicated her desire to also help those who are forced into exile ».
