15,751,339 euros! This is how much money the "RTL Donation Marathon" collected in its anniversary edition. The campaign took place for the 25th time.
In the difficult Corona year 2020, the RTL donation marathon took place for the 25th time. The benefit program of the private broadcaster was able to score a real record for its anniversary: a total of an unbelievable 15,751,339 euros were collected, more than ever! The previous record came from the previous year at just over ten million euros. "That's fantastic!" Commented RTL boss Bernd Reichert (46). Right now it is more important than ever to help children in need in Germany and around the world.
Moderator Wolfram Kons (56) was also overwhelmed by the result: "That makes me happy, proud and humble." He thanked "everyone out there who supported us in this unforgettable anniversary RTL charity marathon". Kons is already looking forward to next year with his team – "without Corona, please!" Due to the pandemic, it was a "real challenge" and a "show of strength" to get the show on air.
The record result is impressive proof that solidarity and community are the right way to go, especially in these times, said Reichert. According to the broadcaster, the money will be used to sustainably support selected children's aid projects. All donations would be allocated for a specific purpose. RTL would bear all costs related to the charity program on TV. This way, all income would arrive without any deductions.
