RTL/ntv trend barometer
Majority does not believe that vaccination will come

A majority of Germans are still in favor of introducing general corona vaccination for adults – but most Germans do not believe that there will actually be such a regulation.

A good half of Germans believe that vaccination against Corona will not be compulsory. When asked whether there would be a general obligation to vaccinate adults in Germany, 52 percent in the RTL/ntv trend barometer said no. 42 percent believe that vaccination is coming.

The assumption as to whether there will be a compulsory vaccination varies among supporters of the parties. 46 percent of SPD supporters assume that vaccination will come; just as many do not believe it. 50 percent of the Greens supporters say that vaccination is coming. 44 percent said no to the corresponding question. The majority of supporters of all other parties are of the opinion that vaccination will not be compulsory.

Majority continue to be vaccinated

The majority of Germans are in favor of such a regulation. 69 percent agree that there should be a general obligation to vaccinate adults. That is four percentage points less than a week earlier. 26 percent are against such a compulsory vaccination.

The majority of supporters of almost all parties support compulsory vaccination. Only AfD supporters are 76 percent against compulsory vaccination. Among the FDP supporters, 65 percent are in favor of compulsory vaccination. In the previous week it was still 60 percent.

In view of the increasing number of infections, 59 percent of those surveyed currently believe that a general lockdown, including the closure of shops, clubs and leisure facilities, exit and contact restrictions and a ban on larger events, is right. 38 percent are against it. A general lockdown is rejected by a majority of FDP supporters (64 percent) and AfD supporters (71 percent). The majority of supporters of all other parties are in favor of it – most strongly those of the SPD with 70 percent, least those of the left with 50 percent.

Satisfaction with Lauterbach decreases

52 percent of Germans are satisfied with the current corona crisis management by Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach. That’s slightly less than in the survey from January 7th to 10th, when 59 percent said they were satisfied. 44 percent are less or not at all satisfied with Lauterbach’s crisis management.

The most satisfied are still the supporters of the SPD (89 percent) and the Greens (77 percent). Of the supporters of the FDP, 51 percent are significantly less satisfied. 57 percent of the Union supporters, 41 percent of the supporters of the left and only 19 percent of the supporters of the AfD are satisfied with the Corona management of the Minister of Health.

The data was collected from January 20 to 21, 2022 by the market and opinion research institute Forsa on behalf of RTL Germany. Database: 1005 respondents. Statistical error tolerance: +/-3 percentage points.
