Ruby Rose will play one of the leading roles in the comedy "1Up" alongside Paris Berelc. Previously, Elliot Page was intended for this part.

Actress Ruby Rose (34, "Batwoman") will be seen in place of Elliot Page (33, "Umbrella Academy") in the gamer comedy "1Up". Page had previously resigned from the planned project. The industry magazine "The Hollywood Reporter" reports.

Accordingly, Rose takes on one of the two main roles in the comedy. The film project of the production company Lionsgate together with the media company BuzzFeed is about Valerie Lee, who could lose her scholarship after leaving the e-sports team at her university. To prevent this, she founds her own team with a teacher, Parker Nesby, and tries to reach the national championship with them. Rose will take on the role of the teacher Parker Nesby, originally intended for Page. Disney star Paris Berelc (22, "Mighty Med – We heal heroes") plays Valerie Lee.

The comedy about a young woman in the struggle for equality is primarily intended to attract millennials and young people of Generation Z, according to the production. Together with Rose, Taylor Zakhar Perez (29, "The Kissing Booth 2"), Hari Nef (28, "You") and Nicholas Coombe (26, "Dora and the Golden City") are part of the cast. The start of shooting and the release of the comedy are currently unknown.
