Rudi Völler: Appointed to the "Hall of Fame" of German football

The "Hall of Fame" in the German Football Museum will have five new members in 2020, including Rudi Völler, Michael Ballack and Berti Vogts.

German sports journalists have chosen five new entries for 2020 into the "Hall of Fame" of the German Football Museum. A total of five legendary football personalities were accepted into the Hall of Fame this year: Rudi Völler (60), Berti Vogts (73), Michael Ballack (44), Klaus Fischer (70) and Andreas Möller (53).

Manuel Neukirchner, director of the German Football Museum, explains: "With Berti Vogts, we are paying tribute to a great personality who shaped German football in the 1970s. Andreas Möller and Michael Ballack embody recent German football history. And Klaus Fischer and Rudi Völler count to the outstanding center strikers that German football has produced. "

"A great story"

"To be one of the top players of all time in a football country like Germany is a great story," said Völler happily. He is "a little proud". Vogts apparently feels the same way. "As a little boy I saw Germany become world champions in 1954 – to be in line with some of these heroes of Bern in the Hall of Fame now makes me proud," he explains.

Last year, Oliver Kahn (51) and Jürgen Klinsmann (56) were included. The legends of German football that have also found a place in the "Hall of Fame" include Uwe Seeler (83), Sepp Maier (76), Franz Beckenbauer (75), Silke Rottenberg (48), Nia Künzer (40 ), Sivlia Neid (56), Helmut Rahn (1929-2003) and other football personalities.
