If football competitions tend to boost Smart TV sales, this is not quite the case with rugby…

According to manufacturers, sales would be up by around 1 to 4%.

Rugby World Cup: no rush to Smart TVs

Every 4 years, during the Football World Cup, players in the Smart TV market see sales explode, with fans of the discipline seeing this as an excellent opportunity (excuse?) to opt for a larger screen, more advanced, more spectacular. A few days ago, the Rugby World Cup was launched in France. Were we able to observe a world cup effect » on television sales? A priorinot really…

Indeed, according to information reported by the Hisense brand and relayed by France TV Infoapproximately 7,000 Smart TVs were sold in the month preceding the event (an increase of 1%), compared to more than 300,000 ahead of Euro 2016. On the LG side, we are talking about an increase 4%, while TCL could benefit from a certain dynamic thanks to its partnership with the French team.

65-inch Smart TVs for less than 500 euros

According to Rémy Journé, vice-president of Hisense France, each change of Smart TV generally allows users to “ upgrade to a higher range “. Existing models therefore tend to display 144 Hz compatibility, but also to benefit from an ever more imposing size in the living room, with customers no longer hesitating to opt for a 65, 75, or even 85 inch model.

At Hisense, there are many models (Mini-LED, QLED, etc.) at very attractive prices, below 500 euros. This floor price allows many lovers of beautiful images to take the plunge, even if it will be necessary to pay a few hundred additional euros to switch to OLED technology.

At the start of the year, we learned that Samsung had once again dominated the global TV market in 2022, for the 17e consecutive year. The Korean also dominated the very large TV segment that same year, with 36.1 and 42.9% market shares respectively for televisions over 75 and 80 inches.

To return to the sporting event of the moment, let’s remember that we will be able to enjoy a total of 48 matches in France, until October 28, on TF1, but also M6 and France 2.
