The High Court in London has declared the British government’s plan to deport asylum seekers who entered the UK illegally to Rwanda as “legal”.
For the conservative government, this verdict means a success.
“The court concluded that it was legal for the UK government to arrange for asylum seekers to be sent to Rwanda so that their asylum application could be examined in Rwanda rather than in the UK,” read a summary of the ruling, published on Tuesday High Court was published.
This found that the measures planned by the government did not violate the Refugee Convention.
