RUMOR about Skull and Bones, a commercial failure for Ubisoft’s game

After years of waiting, Ubisoft finally launched Skull and Bonesa multiplayer game with pirates at sea. A title that could have made an excellent standalone spin-off has Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag 10 years ago, but which is launched in 2024 as game AAAA sold at high price (€79.99).

Ubisoft has not yet released sales figures, but according to information fromInsiderGaming, Skull and Bones reportedly only has 850,000 players, including those who took advantage of the eight-hour free trial offer. A very low figure, but these players would still be very engaged in the adventure, with between three to four hours of play per day. For a title with such ambitions, it is a commercial failure and according to sourcesInsiderGaming, developers reportedly attribute low attendance to the game’s high price. If some players were hoping for a game free-to-playthe employees interviewed would affirm that the subject was debated internally, but thata price between $30 and $40 would have been more reasonable.

Reviews for Skull and Bones aren’t great either, THE Metascore with the press tests goes from 58 to 63/100 depending on the platforms, while the players gave it a 3.5/10 on average… All is not lost however, the servers have not of problems, unlike other titles like Helldiverse 2 And Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice LeagueAnd Ubisoft will launch on February 27 L’Year 1 – The Rise of the Kingpinsthe first chapter in a wave of free seasonal additional content.
