In January 2022, we officially learned that Respawn Entertainment was then working on no less than three game projects in the universe of Star Wars. From, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and PS4 and Xbox One versions were even announced last summer. While waiting for a third part which will in any case be without Stig Asmussen, this is one of the other games potentially in development which has received a rumor in recent days from Tom Hendersonwhich should please fans of the series The Mandalorian.
The latter thus published an article on InsiderGaming and he declares that according to his sources, a first-person game where we play a bounty hunter from Mandalore would currently be at the beginning of its development at Respawn. He would take his place during the period of the Galactic Empire and would ask us to bring back bounty targets alive or dead to obtain cold hard cash. Obviously, this will evoke for some the classic Star Wars: Bounty Hunter from 2002, where we had control of Jango Fett.
In terms of gameplay, A jetpack would allow you to perform horizontal dashes, vertical jumps, slide under the effect of a boost and more. The pace is described as frantic and playing in this way would reward the player, for example by regenerating health depending on the kills successively carried out. A whole bunch of weapons and gadgets, including a wrist-mounted rocket launcher, a grappling hook, a sight to target enemies, etc.. Furthermore, the action would take place within linear levels on various planetsundeniably reminiscent of the game mentioned above.
Finally, the release of this game project Star Wars would not be for now, with at least one or two years of waiting. Knowing that the feature film The Mandalorian & Grogu is planned for 2026, a launch in the same year wouldn’t be so crazy in terms of marketing.
On the other hand, if there was mention of Mohammad Alavi as creative director before his departure from Respawn (see his profile LinkedIn), the article has since been edited to say that he would have worked on a canceled game in the universe ofApex Legends…
