RUMOR: Embracer Group already wants to get rid of a huge studio

For years, Embracer Groupthe parent company of THQ Nordic, buys everything that comes to hand. But obviously, the Swedish group is in complete indigestion and launched a major internal restructuring at the beginning of the summer, resulting in particular from the closure of Volition (Red Faction, Saints Row).

Square Enix Montrealrenamed to Onoma after the buyout, had suffered the same fate, but Embracer Group wants to go even further and visibly intends to separate from a huge studio that it had bought in 2021. According to information from Reuters, Embracer Group would be looking to sell Gearbox Entertainmentthe studio behind the Borderlands. Nothing has been done yet, but the Swedish group is said to be in discussions with Goldman Sachs And Aream & Co to separate from Randy Pitchford’s studio.

If the sale goes through, the amount should be rather high and would allow Embracer Group to replenish the coffers, and concentrate fully on its other studios. He had as a reminder bought Gearbox Entertainment for $1.3 billion, it remains to be seen whether there will be a profit or not on resale.
