RUMOR on Twisted Metal: bye bye Lucid Games, a new studio developing the reboot

It has been several times that we have heard of a new Twisted Metal. Last I heard, it was developed by Lucid Games, the creators of AllStars Destruction, for release in 2023 with an approach free-to-play. According to Andy Robinson from VGC, which had participated in the previous rumors, the plans would have changed.

This reboot of Twisted Metal would indeed have been removed from the hands of Lucid Games, to be entrusted to a studio first-party European. Should we understand that this is a member of Playstation studios, type London Studio Where Media Molecule, a new anonymous team or a close partner? Will development start from zero or part of the assets will they be kept? No one knows for the moment, especially since the information remains unofficial. The reason for this change in leadership was not clearly communicated to VGC, but one source logically suggested that it could be due to the poor public and critical reception received by AllStars Destruction (always available from € 16.99 on Amazon.com).

Despite this turnaround, plans would still be propose this new Twisted Metal in 2023, to accompany the release of the series with Anthony Mackie. If these facts are true, the project starts all the same on bad bases for the continuation, but useless to judge it more, even before its officialization.
