Rupert Murdoch launches his ‘tabloid’ TV channel in the UK


At a time when sales of his newsstands are declining, the mogul is expanding his multimedia strategy.

“You have to give the public what they want to read, what they want to watch.” This sentence pronounced by Rupert Murdoch seventy years ago still resonates like a mantra for the media magnate, of Australian origin. On Monday evening, the owner of the American channel Fox News and the British tabloid The Sun launched a new channel on linear television in the United Kingdom: TalkTV. Its populist slogan “Straight talking start here” (“The frank spoken starts here”) announced the color to the televiewers.

From 8 p.m., the latter were able to find former American President Donald Trump, in an exclusive interview for the premiere of “Uncensored” (“Uncensored”), Piers Morgan’s show.
