Before the 2G rule came into force in Austria, many vaccination stations were very popular at the weekend. From Monday, most unvaccinated people are no longer allowed to visit bars, hotels, events and hairdressers. Because of the exponential increase in corona infections, the government has decided to restrict access to those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered. The regulation will remain in force at least until Christmas, said the conservative Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg and the Green Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler of the “Kronen Zeitung”.
After the announcement of the measure on Friday, the waiting time in Vienna’s largest vaccination street increased to one and a half hours. In Salzburger Land, almost 1,400 people spontaneously got a stab on Saturday without an appointment – in the previous weeks it had only been 2,000 a week. In other regions such as Vorarlberg, too, there was a great rush. The pressure on unvaccinated people to get the first dose has increased in the last few days not only because of the upcoming 2G rule. Since the beginning of November, workers who have not been vaccinated or who have not recovered have to bring a test certificate with them several times a week (3G rule).
The seven-day incidence in Austria was most recently around 570 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. In Switzerland this value is 279.8.
