Journalists have come across an abandoned private prison near St. Petersburg. Pictures on 47news show underground cells that have been recreated from the infamous former Kresty prison in St. Petersburg.
The three cells are in a dilapidated, partially flooded house. Each cell has an iron bunk bed, a washbasin, a toilet bowl, food bowls and a steel door. The doors are decorated with a wolf, a spider, a woman behind bars and a skull with the inscription “Black Hand”, which are probably allusions to the Italian Mafia.
Leftovers in the oven
Above the entrance there is a sign saying “Copenhagen”. There is a complex safety system for the plant. There are several sockets in a room, also on the ceiling. Was torture here?
There is also an oven in the facility that is large enough to accommodate a person. Biological remains were found inside – it is unclear whether they are from humans.
The owner was a prison director
The creepy property in the village of Nowy Peterburg belonged to a former prison director who is said to have expanded it into a torture dungeon for 460,000 francs in 2010. The property has been owned by a car dealer since his death in 2018.
The Russian investigative journalist Sergei Kanew (58) assumes that the prison belonged to a powerful mafia ring. “We can only guess who was held prisoner there and burned alive,” he said.
Identify authorities
A similar prison had previously been found near Moscow, said Kanew. “A special iron table was set up on which prisoners were handcuffed and tortured. For example, a billiard stick was used with men. “
47news had been made aware of the facility near St. Petersburg by migrants. After the portal reported this, the authorities drove up a bulldozer to block entry. Russian investigators are now trying to find out what atrocities actually took place in the private prison. (gf)
