It was obviously a question of the situation in the Middle East and more precisely of this declaration by Jean-Luc Mélenchon according to whom, the resumption of Israeli bombings in Gaza presents all the indications of a genocidal desire. The TF1 group, parent company of the LCI news channel, immediately responded on the same network to defend its journalist. “The TF1 group firmly supports Ruth Elkrief and strongly deplores the odious invectives and inappropriate insinuations to which she is the subject.”

Apolline de Malherbe from RMC and BFMTV, for her part, spoke of danger. “Journalists who we seek to intimidate because they are Jewish? So they are not objective? We must collectively denounce these practices which threaten freedom of information and democracy,” wrote the journalist.
