In Italy, the approximately 60 million inhabitants are said to have been staying at home since Tuesday because of the spread of coronavirus. The government in Rome had extended the closures previously imposed in the north of the country to Monday night. According to the new rules, people are only allowed to leave their home for a few reasons. Exceptions are shopping when you have to go to work, doctor visits or the help of old or sick relatives. Visiting friends or walking in other places is prohibited. Cinemas and theaters are closed nationwide. Shops, bars and restaurants are only open to a limited extent.

There is no time to waste to curb the spread of the virus, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said on Monday evening. However, international train and flight connections as well as local public transport should not be stopped.
