Alongside the announcement of new Ryzen 5000 processors, AMD released some interesting information for owners of “old” platforms: it is extending support for the Ryzen 4000 and 5000 to all motherboards with a 300 series chipset. .

In fact, if your platform is equipped with an X370, B350 or A320 chipset, you will therefore be able to change the processor to add one of these latest Ryzen. AMD emphasizes that this requires the deployment of AGESA 1.2.0.7, integrated into the new BIOSes of its partners.
Of course, before updating your motherboard, you should check the update notes so as not to have any unpleasant surprises on compatibility with older processors in particular. AMD expects updates to be available from May 2022.
