Liquipedia took stock of the past year and gave us a nice little ranking: the top 20 of the site’s most visited pages on CS: GO. Unsurprisingly, s1mple takes the lead but there are also 3 French people including the inevitable ZywOo … But it is not even the best tricolor!

While LANs were a little rarer than usual during this period of pandemic, it was a little more complicated than usual to measure the popularity of the different players, without the applause of the public. Corn Liquipedia gave us an interesting piece of data to start the year: the ranking of the most visited player pages in 2021. Obviously, that’s still research on the internet and this one does not say everything. But there are still some interesting trends … We can especially ask questions about the future of CS: GO given that in the top 20 we find a lot of retired players.

3 French in the top 20! Time to do cocorico

Since 2015 and Team EnVyUs, no more French has won a Major. However, the French continue to animate the competitive scene and constantly play the first roles. Team Vitality in particular caused a lot of talk at the end of 2021 with a magnificent Last Dance. We therefore logically find 2 bees in the top 20, but we also have the right to surprise the chef!

  • kennyS (3rd): this mythical sniper takes the podium, just behind s1mple and device. The Frenchman is also a legend, but seeing him so high in the standings may come as a surprise, given that he has spent most of the year on the bench.
  • ZywOo (8th): the former Team aAa made the powder speak again in 2021. Clutch after clutch, multikill after multikill, he has rendered proud services to Team Vitality. If s1mple has gained the upper hand in their duel from a distance, we hope that the Habs will have their revenge in 2022.
  • shox (17th): overpriced for some, underrated by others, the soon to be 30 years old leaves no one indifferent. While he has played in every Majors since in history, he is still loyal to the position at the top level and he will play at Team Liquid next season.

At least 3 retired players in the top 20: a sign of poor health?

Counter Strike: Global Offensive

Beyond the case of kennyS which has been inactive for a long time or a somewhat similar one olofmeister (12th), we find especially in the top 20 retired players who have not played once in competition on CS: GO in 2021.

  • ScreaM (11th): the one-tap god has changed games and is now playing on Valorant at Team Liquid.
  • TenZ (14th): just like ScreaM, he now plays Riot Games FPS at Sentinels.
  • pashaBiceps (20th): he still plays CS: GO but has been a streamer for a little while. However, it is still one of the top searched pages.

esport-csgo

NBK has one of the most beautiful tricolors in history on CS: GO. Today in transition phase on Valorant, he made a courageous revelation: he was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. It is hoped that his touching speech will lead to more inclusion in the future.
