Safe Orthopedics: promising results for Sycamore – 08/08/2023 at 12:31

(CercleFinance.com) – Safe Orthopedics reported on Tuesday first “promising” clinical results for Sycamore, its system intended for the management of patients with vertebral fractures.

The results of this biomechanical study, published in the Journal of Experimental Orthopedics, showed that Sycamore showed a ‘very significant’ increase in compressive strength compared to balloon kyphoplasty.

More specifically, the treatment of compression fractures with the Sycamore system resulted in a very significant increase in the load-bearing strength of the fractures compared to the pre-treatment condition.

Sycamore also provided greater improvement in load bearing and fracture displacement energy compared to balloon kyphoplasty, Safe says.

These data suggest – according to the company – that Sycamore may be a good alternative for the treatment of vertebral compression fractures.

Sycamore consists of a titanium nail, a hollow titanium peg anchored directly into the pedicle, and cement injected through the nail.

The Safe action fell by 0.8% on Tuesday on the Paris Stock Exchange following this announcement.
