PARIS (Reuters) – Safran CEO Olivier Andriès reported on Friday “constructive” discussions with Airbus and said he hoped to soon reach an agreement on the quantity of engines that Safran will supply to the European aircraft manufacturer in 2025.
Safran co-produces the new generation LEAP (Leading Edge Aviation Propulsion) turbojets, which are more energy efficient, with GE Aerospace, through their CFM International venture consortium.
The French engine manufacturer is in competition with Pratt & Whitney to equip the medium-haul single-aisle Airbus A320neo and is the sole supplier of engines for the Boeing 737 MAX, which has recently experienced numerous setbacks.
