Saint-Gobain: renewable electricity purchase contract


(CercleFinance.com) – Saint-Gobain has signed a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with TotalEnergies. This contract concerns the purchase of solar energy for its 125 industrial sites in North America (United States and Canada).

This 100 MW PPA should reduce Saint-Gobain’s electricity-related CO2 emissions (scope 2 emissions) in North America by 90,000 tonnes per year.

The Danish Fields site is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2024.

Mark Rayfield, CEO of Saint-Gobain North America, said: ‘Through this contract, Saint-Gobain North America will continue to significantly reduce its CO2 emissions, demonstrating the speed with which the industrial sector can transform when long-term solutions are within reach. This renewable energy project is essential to enable Saint-Gobain to achieve its commitment to reduce its scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions by 33% by 2030 compared to 2017, and to achieve carbon neutrality. ‘by 2050.’
