On the set of C to you this Tuesday, February 1, Sylvie Tellier defended the small remuneration received by the candidates for Miss France 2022. According to her, the price does not count more than the progress it represents.
It was an unprecedented advance. Last December, the 29 candidates for the Miss France 2022 election signed an employment contract and were paid to participate in the big evening, during which Diane Leyre was elected. But as revealed The Parisian, the company Miss France has decided to pay its candidates not as temporary employees but as extras. “We got paid 84 euros per day, i.e. 252 euros net in all. The equivalent of the minimum wage. It’s really symbolic.”, said one of the Miss, preferring to remain anonymous. Faced with the outcry, Alexia Laroche-Joubert wanted to defend herself. Just like Sylvie Tellier, present on the C à vous set this Tuesday, February 1. “They were paid minimum wage. Be careful not to devalue people who are paid minimum wage, because there are a lot of them”continued the boss of the Miss France committee.
“I think we don’t do Miss France for the salary. We do Miss France to take advantage of an exceptional springboard, to live a dream”, continued Sylvie Tellier before mentioning the arrival of Alexia Laroche-Joubert, who set up this remuneration: “Today she has allowed young women to be paid for two days. Before, that didn’t exist. So it’s a plus for her. But we don’t come here for the money”. At his side, Diane Leyre also defended the small remuneration received by the candidates. “Miss France is a dream. Does a dream have a price? No. Does receiving so much love have a price? Not either. Personally, I haven’t even looked at the remuneration , it did not change anything, it was not the goal, assured Miss France 2022. (…) I’m not going to complain about what I get, it’s just more. “
Alexia Laroche-Joubert: “The motivations of the candidates would no longer be the same”
Contacted by Le Parisien, Alexia Laroche-Joubert recalled that Miss France “is a contest” and that the contract offered to candidates is already “a great step forward”. On the other hand, no question of extending the duration. “This does not correspond to our values and the motivations of the candidates would no longer be the same. For that, they can do Les Marseillais or Les Ch’tis”, assured the producer. As the daily calculated, for the day of the big ceremony watched by more than 7 million French people, the candidates would have been paid seven euros per hour, while TF1 billed at the same time 114,000 euros for the 30-second ad spot. . “We should already have a work contract from the preparatory tripregretted one of them. We record lots of sequences there for the show, and we do photo shoots that are sold very expensively to magazines, sometimes from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
