Salaries, working conditions: hundreds of caregivers demonstrate this Tuesday


A day of inter-union and inter-professional mobilization is organized by the CGT.

This Tuesday January 11 is a day of mobilization of hospital staff. At the call of the CGT, SUD and CFE-CGC unions and several healthcare groups (Inter-Hospitals, Inter-Urgences, Inter-Blocs, Printemps de la psychiatrie …), the caregivers demonstrate to ask for more resources to public hospital, better working conditions and higher wages.

In Paris, the demonstration was scheduled from 1 p.m. The procession left Port Royal at 1:30 p.m. on Boulevard du Montparnasse before going to Les Invalides. According to the official itinerary, the demonstrators then take the avenue de Villars before joining the Place Vauban, the last stage of the demonstration. On these axes, traffic could be disrupted. According to the CGT, there are 3,000 demonstrators.

In Bordeaux, a rally was organized from 11:30 am on the Place de la République. It was followed by a march towards the County Council and the Prefecture.

Workers in the medico-social sector on strike

At the same time, a strike by local public officials in the “care and connection” trades is organized in Paris on Tuesday, at the call of the CGT Federation of Public Services. It concerns social, medico-social workers, animators, midwives, ATSEM, early childhood professionals, home help services and EHPAD staff.

They demand better working conditions and an increase in their remuneration. These personnel were also invited to join the demonstration of caregivers. Another day of strike and inter-union and inter-professional demonstration is scheduled for Thursday, January 27.
