The LG XBoom Go PL7 portable speakers are offered at €109.43 on Amazon, a drop of around €26 on the usual price. This is currently our best value for money.
The PL7 is the flagship of LG’s new range of portable speakers. Neat look, acoustic elements co-designed with the specialist Meridian Audio… are these enough weapons to stand out from the competition?
LG XBoom Go PL7
Introductory price €199
The LG XBoom Go PL7 seduces with its balanced and remarkably dynamic audio reproduction, which will delight lovers of very percussive music. However, it lacks a bit of transparency and sound “cleanliness” to tease the references in its category. We recommend in particular to put it in competition with the excellent SRS-XB33 from Sony, which outclasses it on several criteria.
Strong points
- Dynamic and balanced sound.
- Excellent bass control.
- Complete commands.
- USB-A port for charging a mobile device.
- A mini-jack input in 2020, yes, it’s still possible!
Weak points
- Low mids lacking precision.
- Audible distortion in the treble.
- Multipoint Bluetooth connection present, but not really usable.

Ultimate Ears Boom 3
Introductory price 150 €
Change in continuity for the Ultimate Ears Boom 3, whose evolutions concern more aesthetics than substance. Its “magic button” certainly starts from a good idea, but at the time of our test, its implementation is too limited to become really useful in use. Remains a quality construction, excellent autonomy and very solid sound performance.
