More than 80 police officers, including armed Cobra officers and a police helicopter, moved to the sheltered workshop on Warwitzstrasse last Wednesday. A witness called 911 and reported a man in camouflage outfit with an assault rifle. There were also video recordings of the stranger – but the poor quality did not allow any further conclusions. To this day it is unclear who the man was. A military man with a gun? Or a gardener with a rake, as is rumored? “Krone” asked around in the vicinity of the scene of the incident. “We can confirm neither in one nor in the other direction. It’s not clear,” explains Ingrid Planitzer from the police. The “Krone” continued to ask around: “You don’t know what’s true,” says Florian Hannak, junior manager of the nearby Hannak Bauzentrum. In fact, Hannak offers rakes for sale: “Yes, we sell rakes, but not weapons-like ones,” he grins not possible. But what is more important is that nothing happened. “The whole building was searched. We would like to thank the neighbors who took us in for a short time,” says Astrid Lamprechter, head of the sheltered workshop. “It was very orderly.” She does not want to say anything about the speculation about the “Phantom”.
