The South Korean giant continues to innovate in smartphones, with ever more surprising tests. Like the Hybrid Flex, this smartphone that folds and stretches!

If Samsung has successfully carried out the innovation of foldable smartphones, through its Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold which we find more and more in everyday life, the group has never wanted to limit itself to this type of technology. We have indeed been hearing for some time about a device that can both fold, but also stretch, which was officially presented at CES 2023. A device which is now being revealed a little more.

A smartphone without an external screen

The patent for Samsung’s Hybrid Flex, this smartphone which appeared during CES 2023, may well have landed in the public domain thanks to the efforts of Caliber Cleaning and of @xleaks7. A smartphone that at first glance recalls the Galaxy Z Fold, with a large internal screen, which closes on itself like a book.

The difference, as we can see in the image below, is that no screen has been integrated into the external face of this smartphone. Enough to disappoint some, but also to ensure better solidity. It is also possible that this is only a temporary choice.

One of the two screens can stretch

Until then, nothing new, the public having been accustomed for several years now to these devices which offer us an extraordinarily large screen thanks to the hinge, holding the two panels together. Except this time, the rear panel of the smartphone can stretch, offering an additional space gain of approximately 50% on this panel, if we refer to the images.

Still according to the same images, it is interesting to observe that the stretching of the screen seems to be possible whether the phone is closed or open. In total, when the device is fully deployed, it offers a screen the size of which is similar to that of a tablet. All this while it can be stored in your pocket. A possibility that could appeal to Samsung customers?
