It’s a name that you will probably have come across if you are looking for a new 4K TV: The Frame, a television that is a bit special, since it imitates the frame of a canvas.
On the occasion of CES 2022, its designer, Samsung, announced that it had modified it by adding an anti-reflective coating.
CES 2022: new update for The Frame
The Frame is one of the top models from Samsung. Currently available between 599 and 3,999 euros depending on the diagonal chosen (from 32 to 85 inches), this TV is based on QLED technology and offers 4K HDR definition.
But the real difference of The Frame lies elsewhere. When the TV is not in use, it may display still or scrolling images. The idea: to make the television an object that integrates fully into the decoration and resembles a canvas.
As such, the brand recently entered into a partnership with the Louvre. Now images of the famous museum can scroll on the Samsung screen. For its part, the brand regularly updates its 4K TV. The Frame can be customized to resemble that of a work of art. A motion sensor detects when the occupants of the house leave it and automatically turns off. A specific cable facilitates a virtually invisible connection.
A new coating, but still no Dolby Vision
However, other elements spoil the experience. Beyond the high price (plus a subscription to an Art Store), the current version of The Frame suffered from reflections, a defect that we obviously do not encounter when we observe a masterpiece.
On the occasion of CES 2022, Samsung announces that it has equipped its device with a new type of mat and anti-reflective screen. Qualified as more ” realistic By the manufacturer, it should be closer to the canvas or paper, even to the touch.
That said, feedback from customers and reviewers about the quality of this print is still slim. It is also a question of seeing the effects that this novelty will have on the picture quality when watching a TV channel or other types of programs.
