Samsung’s all-new stylus targets digital creative pros

Samsung’s latest S Pen, the Galaxy S Pen Creator Edition, is now available for sale. The company initially announced the new S Pen Creator Edition during the Galaxy Tab S9 series launch in July, as a new smart pen designed primarily for writing and drawing.

The all-new Galaxy S Pen Creator Edition is only available in white, contrasting with Samsung’s traditionally dark aesthetic and a choice that resembles the Apple Pencil, which also just released a simpler, more USB-C model affordable at the price of €95.

Unlike the standard Apple Pencil and S Pen, the S Pen Creator Edition features an ergonomic design that promotes agility and comfort during long sessions of graphic design, drawing, or writing. It also features improved tilt sensitivity to give creators more precision in their graphics work.

No need to be recharged

The battery-less S Pen Creator Edition doesn’t support Bluetooth or specific Samsung Air Commands (floating menu), but that also means it’ll never need to be recharged – it won’t will never drop due to a dead battery. The premium stylus can still magnetically attach to a Galaxy Tab tablet for easy transportation.

The S Pen Creator Edition is about half the weight of the second-generation Apple Pencil, which retails for $150 and has an IPX4 rating that makes it splash-proof. Apple does not assign an IP rating to its stylus.

Although Samsung increased the diameter of the Galaxy S Pen Creator Edition by 0.9mm to make it thicker and easier to hold for long periods of time, it is still slightly thinner than the Apple Pencil.

The Galaxy S Pen Creator Edition is already available. It is compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, the new Note 10 and the Galaxy Tab S series as well as Samsung PCs that support the S Pen. It is not compatible with the Galaxy Z series.
