The cast for the upcoming Netflix series "Sandman" has been set: Gwendoline Christie and Tom Sturridge will take on the leading roles.

In the summer of 2019 it was announced that Netflix, together with Warner Bros., wants to bring the DC comic "Sandman" penned by Neil Gaiman (60) to the screens. Now a large part of the cast has been determined that will bring the characters to life. As the streaming service announced in several tweets, the actors Gwendoline Christie (42, "Game of Thrones") and Tom Sturridge (35, "3 Way Junction") slip into the leading roles Lucifer (ruler of hell) and Dream (lord of dreams).

The well-known actors Boyd Holbrook (39), Charles Dance (74), Asim Chaudhry (34) and Sanjeev Bhaskar (57) round off the cast of the dark fantasy drama. Netflix speaks of the series as "a rich mix of modern epic, dark fantasy, in which contemporary fiction, historical drama and legends are seamlessly interwoven". It's supposed to be the most expensive series ever to emerge from the DC Universe. A date for the start of filming or even a broadcast date have not yet been set.
