Sarah Jessica Parker (58) has on SiriusXM radio’s “Howard Stern Show” looking back on her time on HBO’s hit series “Sex and the City,” revealing she initially had reservations about playing the role of Carrie Bradshaw that made her so famous. The reason: The actress did not want to shoot any nude scenes.

Moral concerns were not the reason

“I found the script really interesting and really exciting, different and fresh, and I’ve never seen anything like it,” Parker said of her initial thoughts on the series. “The only thing I worried about was that I just didn’t feel comfortable being naked in front of the camera and I assumed it would be part of a series even though it wasn’t in the pilot.” She just never felt comfortable “exposing myself like that,” the actress continued. “I never judged anyone else doing it, it had nothing to do with morality – I was shy.”

However, series creator Darren Star (61) was able to calm her down quickly and take away her fear: “He said: ‘Then don’t do it. We will have other actors, if they feel comfortable with it, then they will do it, but you don’t have to’. ” Parker had another condition for playing her role: she wanted to avoid using strong language as much as possible. “We were on HBO and I knew that meant we could say whatever we wanted and we could be casual and lewd,” she explained. “But I also thought that means that we have to be disciplined and that we shouldn’t just use the language because we could.” She also wanted to do Bradshaw justice: “She’s a writer and she really thinks very carefully about what she says, how, to whom and when.”

Sarah Jessica Parker is currently celebrating success with a “SATC” offshoot: “And Just Like That…” has been back since June 22nd with a second season and new episodes.
