Willie Garson died of cancer in September. He only told one of his “And Just Like That …” colleagues about his illness.

“Sex and the City” star Willie Garson (1964-2021) died in September at the age of only 57 of complications from pancreatic cancer. As his serial colleague Cynthia Nixon (55) now reveals, she and most of the rest of the cast of the TV sequel “And Just Like That …” did not know about his struggle with the disease while filming. Only Sarah Jessica Parker (56) was inaugurated at an early stage.

The rest of the cast knew nothing “until it became indisputable”

“The death of Wille Garson was obviously completely unexpected,” explained the Miranda Hobbes actress According to “Deadline” as part of an interview about the spin-off of the cult series. Sarah Jessica Parker was the only one “who knew he was sick when we were shooting – until it became indisputable and we were all told”.

Nixon was grateful that she and her colleagues could film with Garson “not only before he was sick”, “but also afterwards”. So you could talk to him about the disease and listen to him. “I know that was very important to us and I think it was something that was also important to him – not to hide it from us anymore.”

Willie Garson played Stanford Blatch, best friend of Sarah Jessica Parker’s role, Carrie Bradshaw, in both the HBO series “Sex and the City” (1998-2004) and in the 2008 and 2010 movies. In the spin-off “And Just Like That … “, which premiered last Thursday (December 9th) and can be seen in Germany on the pay-TV provider Sky, can be seen one last time in his star role.
