Saw: it’s confirmed, Jigsaw is back!

The first photos from the set of “Saw X” announce the return of John Kramer, aka Jigsaw, the puzzle killer…

Saw X, the next installment in the Saw franchise directed by Kevin Greutert, is already in production! As ComingSoon reports, photos from the film’s set have indeed been released, giving fans their first look at Tobin Bell’s return as the legendary serial killer.

In one of the photos, we can also see the actor sitting on a bench in a park talking with a young child. Few images from the shoot have surfaced so far but with production currently underway, more will surely be posted online in the near future.

As the tweet clarifies, the production is in its 2nd week of filming and the young boy who appears in the images is played by the son of producer Mark Burg.

The horror saga, created by Australian filmmakers James Wan and Leigh Whannell, revolves mainly around the fictional serial killer John “Jigsaw” Kramer, played by Tobin Bell who has thus appeared – in different forms – in all the films, at the exception of the latest, Spiral: The Legacy of Saw (2021) which focuses on a copycat killer while maintaining continuity with previous films. The 9th installment, by Darren Lynn Bousman, who had previously directed Saw 2, Saw 3 and Saw 4, was generally considered a failure, the project receiving mixed reviews and bringing in less money at the box office than its counterparts.

But despite this, the saga has grossed, since its theatrical debut in 2004, more than a billion dollars (at the box office and beyond), making it one of the most profitable horror film franchises. all time.

The character’s backstory saw Kramer find a new appreciation for life after a suicide attempt and saw him dedicate his life to “inspire” others by trapping them in sadistic games that push them to horrific extremes for to survive. Indeed, rather than killing its victims on the spot, Jigsaw places them in deadly situations in order to test their will to survive through physical or psychological torture, believing that if they survive, they will be “rehabilitated”. The chills are therefore at the rendezvous.

While waiting to be able to see the 10th opus in the cinema, scheduled for October 2023, the saga is, for its part, to be rediscovered on VOD.
