Launched in 2016 in hybrid version, plug-in hybrid and electric, the Hyundai Ioniq is now bowing out.

The South Korean automaker will halt production of the vehicle next month.

End of the road for the Hyundai Ionic

In 2016, the manufacturer Hyundai launched the Ioniq, a vehicle then offered with three engines: hybrid, rechargeable hybrid and 100% electric. Today, the brand confirms the end of production of the model in the Ulsan factory, which will take effect from next month. In many markets, the Hyundai Ioniq is already no longer present in the catalog.

Don’t panic, however, the shutdown of production of the Hyundai Ioniq has been scheduled for a long time, and the group is now focusing on new electric models developed from the in-house E-GMP platform, such as the Genesis GV60, the Kia EV6 or… the Ioniq 5.

Indeed, if the first Ioniq bows out, it leaves a legacy of a name that will be used to baptize the new 100% electric vehicles from Hyundai.

Remember that the Hyundai Ioniq 5 recently won no less than three titles at the New York International Auto Show, namely ” World Car of the Year », « World Electric Vehicle of the Year ” and ” World Car Design of the Year !

Whether or not you are a fan of the very specific design of this Ioniq 5, Hyundai’s SUV – as the manufacturer describes it itself – does not leave you indifferent.
