Scaf Phase 1B contract awarded to Airbus and Dassault Aviation – 2022-12-16 at 18:09


(AOF) – On behalf of the French, German and Spanish governments, the DGA has awarded Airbus, Dassault Aviation, Indra, Eumet and their industrial partners the contract for phase 1B of the Future Air Combat System (SCAF) demonstrator. This contract, worth 3.2 billion euros, will cover work on the SCAF demonstrator and its components for approximately three and a half years. this major step forward reflects the desire of France, Germany and Spain to develop a powerful, innovative weapon system to meet the operational needs of the armed forces of these countries.

This market notification follows the signing of industrial agreements supporting the Phase 1B demonstrator by Airbus, Dassault Aviation, Indra and Eumet as program prime contractors and by their industrial partners from the three nations. The discussions held over the past few months have created a solid basis for cooperation between the industry and the three governments.

Opening the way to the development phase of the program, this demonstration phase 1B will allow the continuation of the in-flight demonstrators and the development and maturation of the necessary advanced technologies as well as the consolidation of the project architectures, with targeted in-flight demonstrations in the next phases by 2028-2029.
