Tragic scenes in Argentina: shots are fired in a third division game. Fans, players and referees are running for their lives. Away team coach Mauricio Romero is not so lucky in his escape. He is hit by a bullet and has to go to the hospital.
A coach was shot in the shoulder during the game in Argentina’s third soccer division. In the match between Huracan Las Heras and Ferro de General Pico on Sunday, the away team coach Mauricio Romero was hit, had to be treated and taken to hospital with a gunshot wound.
The authorities are investigating the case. Romero is said to have been questioned by the police after he filed a complaint. There were no immediate reports of arrests. The Argentine Football Association has also launched an investigation. Romero can look back on a long career in Mexican football, playing for various clubs.
A video on the Argentine television channel Canal 3 La Pampa shows the players from both teams and the referees running from the field and fans hiding behind walls when shots were fired at the stadium in the province of Mendoza. The game was interrupted in the closing stages when the score was 3-1 for Huracan.

“Romero is fine and his life is out of danger,” said his club in a statement regarding the former professional footballer on Twitter: “After he left the stadium, he was examined at a local hospital and is now making a statement to the police . “
According to the Argentine media, an internal dispute between Huracan fans is said to have led to the incident. The home club sharply criticized those involved. “Families have been chased off the field for years,” said a post on Facebook: “May all those who harm the club stay away so that the real fans can return.”
Sunday’s shooting in Argentina occurred on the same day that a similar incident interrupted play of a U-20 game in Brazil. No one was injured in the incident in Macae in the state of Rio de Janeiro between Serra Macaense and Carapebus.
