Search for perpetrators – residents beat farm shop thief to flight

On the night of Sunday, an unknown perpetrator in St. Ruprecht an der Raab took the term self-service shop too literally: The man broke open a cash register and when he didn’t find anything there, he used the change basket. A neighbor noticed the thief from his balcony and yelled at him to flee. Now the police are looking for the perpetrator.

Again and again, self-service farm shops are targeted by brazen thieves. This was also the case on Sunday night in St. Ruprecht an der Raab (Weiz district). About half an hour after midnight, an unknown person broke into a cash register with a tool in one of these shops in the Rollsdorf district. When he couldn’t find any cash there, he helped himself to change in the basket next to it. The yield is likely to amount to coins of an unknown amount. According to the police, a man on a terrace opposite became aware of the burglar through the noise. He yelled loudly at the perpetrator, who fled the store and got into his car about 40 meters away, with which he fled in the direction of Gleisdorf.
