ABC announced yesterday that the Grey's Anatomy series it broadcasts will not resume production of the current season 16. It was one of the first programs to be stopped because of the current health crisis.

This is a situation to which even Meredith Gray cannot provide a quick fix. This Friday, fans of Grey's Anatomy learned with sadness that the current season of their streak will end prematurely. It was ABC, the medical show’s broadcast channel, that confirmed the news by stating that season 16 production will not resume. Premature termination caused by the coronavirus pandemic which has grown exponentially in the United States.

It is therefore episode 21 which will mark the end of season 16 of Grey's Anatomy. Entitled "Look good ", he will be aired on Thursday April 9 in the United States. The drama signed ABC had therefore finished 21 episodes of its current season before stopping production recently. So, two new episodes will be broadcast in the coming weeks. To know that season 16 was originally scheduled to have 25 episodes. So these are 4 episodes that fans of the series will never have the pleasure of watching. Fortunately, we can still count on the rest of the series which has already been renewed for season 17. Phew!

Regarding the details, the ABC announcement tells us that Grey's Anatomy suspended production on March 12 due to the spread of the coronavirus. Showrunner Krista Vernoff and executive producers Debbie Allen and James D. Parriott explained the decision in a letter to the actors and the film crew. "We are now going home for at least two weeks and we are waiting to see how the coronavirus situation evolves", said the note, obtained by E! News. "This decision was made to ensure the health and safety of all the players and the team as well as the safety of our loved ones outside of work, and it was taken in accordance with the suggestion of Mayor Garcetti not to not meet in groups of more than 50 people. "

The shortened season of Grey's Anatomy comes at a time when the series is undergoing major changes. Justin Chambers, a member of the original cast, announced his departure in January, and his character, Alex Karev said goodbye in the March 5 episode dedicated to him. Subsequently, the series hinted at the release of another flagship character in the episode of Thursday March 26.
