The 2022 NFT saga continues, and while we thought that Sega was going to curb its desires in the face of the rejection of technology by a large part of the gaming community, the Japanese publisher continues to place its pawns. VGC informs us today that Sega has just registered the mark ” Sega NFT “, with a first logo to support history to make everything very concrete.
A step in the wrong direction
This new trademark filing was published today but was submitted to the Japanese patent office last December. In addition to the name, we are therefore even entitled to a real logo, which you can see below.
A few days ago, the president of Sega had expressed his fears about the reception of NFTs by the general public. He then declared that if the company failed to justify this practice, other than by the pecuniary aspect, Sega would drop its NFT projects.
But for the moment, it seems that the publisher is risking getting into this business, even if we still don’t know in what form. Hoping that it doesn’t fit into the 30 years of Sonic, like Konami with the 35 years of Castlevania.
